Unearthly by Cynthia Hand
Release Date:  January 4th, 2011
Publisher: HarperTeen

In the beginning, there's a boy standing in the trees . . . . Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy.  Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side.  As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?  -

Wow!  Wow!  This is another one of those books that I just fell in love with.  Hard!  I'm already dying for  book 2 to come out.  This was a fabulous story that just pulled me right in immediately.

The angel aspect of this story gave a neat new spin on the Nephilim that I haven't read in other books of this kind.  It was really neat getting to watch Clara work on her angel skills in preparation for her purpose.  She's dedicated to that duty, and works to get to know Christian in order to discover the details of her purpose and just how he fits into it, since he has been a part of the vision she's been plagued with.

Christian and Tucker... what can I say?  I love them both!  I have a special fondness for Tucker though.  Swoon!  What a guy.  I just love it.  I can't really reveal anything else without giving away the ending or who she ends up with.  So I'll have to leave it at that.

Suffice it to say, this was one of those beautiful romances that gave me flutters and butterflies in my stomach.  The ending is a bit of a cliffhanger, which left me absolutely beating my head against my nookbook dying for more!  Pick up this book as soon as possible!!
