Vi knows the Rule: Girls don't walk with boys, and they never even think about kissing them. But no one makes Vi want to break the Rules more than Zenn...and since the Thinkers have chosen him as Vi's future match, how much trouble can one kiss cause? The Thinkers may have brainwashed the rest of the population, but Vi is determined to think for herself.  But the Thinkers are unusually persuasive, and they're set on convincing Vi to become one of them...starting by brainwashing Zenn. Vi can't leave Zenn in the Thinkers' hands, but she's wary of joining the rebellion, especially since that means teaming up with Jag. Jag is egotistical, charismatic, and dangerous--everything Zenn's not. Vi can't quite trust Jag and can't quite resist him, but she also can't give up on Zenn.  This is a game of control or be controlled. And Vi has no choice but to play. - Goodreads.com

I had waited for this one for some time and couldn't wait to get my hands on it.  I'm on a huge dystopian kick lately, and I was so happy to find one from a debut author.  I was not disappointed.

Vi's world was frustratingly oppressive, and it was easy to see why people would be unhappy with such strictures on their movements.  Although I did like Zenn in the brief period of time that you meet him in the beginning, I was a much faster fan of Jag, when she met him.

Vi's character was unusual, as she was not only strong, but kind of tough and irreverent, which I thought was so unique.  Jag was a lot like that as well, but he had a playfulness that I thought was a nice bright spot in a serious story, but also made him so endearing.  He was strong though, and kinda sexy, I have to say.

There were a couple of twists and surprises in this story that had my eyebrows going up.  A few things I absolutely did not expect, and then a couple things I wondered about and had confirmed.  The end of this story definitely had me clammoring for what will obviously be a second book coming out at some point.  I'm looking forward to see what happens with Vi, Jag and Zenn, as I can definitely see a love triangle forming in the near future here.

Great job from debut author Elana Johnson!  Looking forward to seeing more from her!
