Monday's Month In Retrospect: July

It's time for Monday's Month In Retrospect.  Let's look back at the previous month and see what I considered the Best Ofs for what I read in July 2011. Remember, these are my best ofs on books I read last month, regardless of release date.

Best Book I read last month:

But I Love Him by Amanda Grace
Release Date: Been out.
Why it was my favorite: Emotionally one of the most beautiful, heart-wrenching books I've ever read.  It broke my heart on so many levels, but I would never miss having read it.  It's just one of those books you have to read.
Reviewed: Yes. See review here.

Best Heroine:
Gabi from Waterfall by Lisa T. Bergren
Why she's my favorite:  You gotta love a girl who gets plopped down in medieval Italy who can capture the eye of a lord, sword fight her way out of trouble, and jump headlong INTO trouble.

Best Hero:
Alex from Ashfall by Mike Mullin
Why he's my favorite:  Spoiled to spectacular.  Loved watching this guy grow into a man.

Best Villain:
Connor from But I Love Him by Amanda Grace
What made them a great villain: The best kind of villain, to me, is the kind that isn't 100% pure, inexplicable evil.  The best villain is the one that you are horrified by, but at the same time, one that you feel sorry for too.  This was Connor.

Best Cover:

Why it's my favorite: This is an awesome cover.  I love all the little elements that let you know, subtly, that this is a time travel.  The image of a castle in the background, and a stoned portal below.  Great colors.

Come on and join me! Share your Best Ofs for June!
