Lexi is cursed with a dark secret. Each day she goes to school like a normal teenager, and each night she must swim, or the pain will be unbearable. She is a siren - a deadly mermaid destined to lure men to their watery deaths. After a terrible tragedy, Lexi shut herself off from the world, vowing to protect the ones she loves. But she soon finds herself caught between a new boy at school who may have the power to melt her icy exterior, and a handsome water spirit who says he can break Lexi's curse if she gives up everything else. Lexi is faced with the hardest decision she's ever had to make: the life she's always longed for - or the love she can't live without? -

I knew this book was coming out for a very long time before it was finally released.  I spent nearly a year pining for this book and wishing it would hurry up and come out.  Sometimes when you yearn for a book like that, when it finally comes out, it doesn't live up to your expectations and you find yourself disappointed.  NOT SO with Ripple.

This book lived up to every single one of my expectations and was exactly what I wanted.  I enjoyed this book so thoroughly, just as I have every other Mandy Hubbard book I've ever read.  The last one was You Wish, and I remember laughing aloud reading that one.  As much as that one kept me lighthearted, this one kept me engrossed in a more serious way.  Mandy Hubbard definitely has great talent as a writer, because she is able to move effortlessly from a light-hearted, funny book to a serious tale that jerks at the heart a little bit and has some awesome intrigue.  What they all have in common, however, is a unique premise that I haven't read before.

Lexi's plight was so sad.  The last boy she loved died, and her developing relationship with the first boy she's allowed herself to love since then, was sweet and agonizing at the same time.

Unique, unique, unique.  Mandy Hubbard knows how to craft a story that no one else has tried, and she gets me every time!!
