Popular Bliss was having the perfect prom until she found her BFF and boyfriend making out in the back of a limo. Bad girl Jolene wouldn’t be caught dead at the prom, yet here she is, trussed up in pink ruffles, risking her reputation for some guy - some guy who is forty minutes late. And shy, studious, ├╝ber-planner Meg never counted on her date’s standing her up and leaving her idling in the parking lot outside the prom. Get ready for The Anti-Prom, Abby McDonald’s hilarious, heart-tugging tale about three girls and one unforgettable prom night.  - Goodreads.com

This is one of those books that was just really fun to read.  I've been on something of a contemporary kick lately.  I must be in the mood for fun, light reads filled with regular teen angst and interesting situations.  This book definitely had that.  This is told in first person in alternating points of view between Bliss, the popular one who just found out her boyfriend is making out in the limo with her best friend at prom, Jolene, the bad girl who carries a torch for an equally bad boy, and Mary, the good girl who is used to being invisible.

Most of the time, you would think there's no way, in real life, that these three would ever team up on anything.  So I was a little skeptical when I sat down and started reading this book.  It turned out be great though.  The author did a wonderful job making this scenario believeable, with believable reasons for why these three would band together on prom night.

The book and its conflicts were simple, nothing complicated, but it was a wonderful read, as the author did such a good job of character building.  These three girls have one long adventurous night that leaves them changed forever, for the better, as they each learn a lesson that shows them what's really important and what isn't.  The book had adventure, comedy, and romance mixed together so well that you just couldn't help getting swept away.  It was highly enjoyable!
