Since she'd been on the outside, she'd survived an Aether storm, she'd had a knife held to her throat, and she'd seen men murdered. This was worse. Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland - known as The Death Shop - are slim. If the cannibals don't get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She's been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He's wild - a savage - and her only hope of staying alive. A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile - everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria's help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption. Opposites in nearly every way, Aria and Perry must accept each other to survive. Their unlikely alliance forges a bond that will determine the fate of all who live under the never sky. - Goodreads.com

I've taken somewhat of a break from dystopians lately, and man, was this a great one to break the silence with. I loved, loved, loved this book. It was so smart, such a strong debut by author Veronica Rossi, and I am a true fan, already. I'm already agonizing over how long it will be before book two comes out. Let's talk characters first.

Aria, always sheltered, is thrust into the un-domed world outside and left on her own, exiled through no fault of her own. Talk about fish out of water. Aria was weak and terrified, but what an amazing journey she makes in this story, both literally, and as a character. As she begins to discover the world outside, and discover her own strength, it was like an awakening that the reader is able to see.

Perry. What can I say about Perry that won't sound cliched. He's just amazing. Strong but with weaknesses, learns from his mistakes, determined, savage, and sweet, all at the same time. I loved this guy. And his growing relationship with Aria was so sweet and romantic.

This book had some surprises for me that I didn't expect, but it takes you on a fantastic ride. The writing in the story was fast and engaging. I hardly noticed the time going by, I was so engrossed. This author has a real talent for storytelling, her writing sometimes raw and emotional, and other times fast and suspensful. I'm definitely hooked and can't wait for the next story.
