Earth, Fire, Air, Water – they have more power than you dream. Ever since her ex-boyfriend spread those lies about her, Becca Chandler is suddenly getting all the guys—all the ones she doesn't want. Then she saves Chris Merrick from a beating in the school parking lot. Chris is different. Way different: he can control water—just like his brothers can control fire, wind, and earth. They’re powerful. Dangerous. Marked for death.  And now that she knows the truth, so is Becca.  Secrets are hard to keep when your life’s at stake. When Hunter, the mysterious new kid around school, turns up with a talent for being in the wrong place at the right time, Becca thinks she can trust him. But then Hunter goes head-to-head with Chris, and Becca wonders who’s hiding the most dangerous truth of all.  The storm is coming . . . -

This is my type of book!  One girl surrounded by a bunch of hot guys with magic, danger, subterfuge, and hidden secrets.  What's not to love here?

The characters in this story was the crowning acheivement.  The brothers Merrick were my favorite thing about this story.  There are four brothers and their relationship with each other, as well as their interactions and scenes together were the most compelling scenes, even if you throw in the magic and suspense.  Just watching their play, the volatility, their vulnerability around the oldest brother, Michael, and how their relationships together evolve and grow throughout the story was so rewarding.

Then there's Becca.  I loved her.  She was sweet, sorta selfless, but with a really healthy dose of 'don't mess with me'.  The contradictions in her personality made her so much more endearing and you just had to fall in love with her.

The story was magical, suspenseful, and had me completely invested from page one.  This is definitely one of those books that starts off immediately and with a bang.  This author knew exactly the perfect place to start this story, and every scene thereafter is a compliment to the others.  Nothing useless was left in this story... it all worked together beautiful, building to that final moment when revelations occur and I was left shocked.  I did have a pretty good suspicion about the identity of a certain key character, but I wasn't disappointed to find out that I was right.

This was just a fantastic book that kept me on the edge of my seat, loving the romance, loving the characters, and utterly fascinated by the events going on.  It's going to be very difficult to wait until the sequel comes out, but the wait will be well worth it  Awesome!!
