I loved Hourglass so much, that I figured I would love Timepiece as well. It surpassed my expectations though. The author did something new and unexpected for a sequel. She changed the lead character point of view to someone different. In the first book, the story was all about Emerson and Michael and written from Emerson's point of view. I loved both of those characters and I enjoyed seeing them again and continuing their story in this installment. But this time, the story is told from Kaleb's point of view.
I fell in love with Kaleb in Hourglass. He wasn't in the story for a very long time, but it was enough to make me really care about him and be drawn to his misunderstood and tortured bad boy persona. Now we get to see into his head, hear his thoughts and truly get to know him. I loved it!
His love interest was, to me, the perfect compliment to his character. I loved these two together and it was so nice to see some good things happen to Kaleb. Additionally, the overall story progressed a great deal and I was completely engrossed. There was romance, mystery, suspense, and just about anything else you can think of to make an awesome book.
The writing is tight and fast-paced and before I knew it, the book was over. Great story. I can't wait for book three!
