When Jacqueline follows her longtime boyfriend to the college of his choice, the last thing she expects is a breakup. After two weeks in shock, she wakes up to her new reality: she’s single, attending a state university instead of a music conservatory, ignored by her former circle of friends, stalked by her ex’s frat brother, and failing a class for the first time in her life.  Her econ professor gives her an email address for Landon, the class tutor, who shows her that she’s still the same intelligent girl she’s always been. As Jacqueline becomes interested in more from her tutor than a better grade, his teasing responses make the feeling seem mutual. There’s just one problem—their only interactions are through email.  Meanwhile, a guy in her econ class proves his worth the first night she meets him. Nothing like her popular ex or her brainy tutor, Lucas sits on the back row, sketching in a notebook and staring at her. At a downtown club, he disappears after several dances that leave her on fire. When he asks if he can sketch her, alone in her room, she agrees—hoping for more.  Then Jacqueline discovers a withheld connection between her supportive tutor and her seductive classmate, her ex comes back into the picture, and her stalker escalates his attention by spreading rumors that they’ve hooked up. Suddenly appearances are everything, and knowing who to trust is anything but easy.  -

This book was a perfect read for me at the perfect time.  It was pure escapism, but with depth.  It reminded me somewhat of Jamie McGuire's Beautiful Disaster, but not because of any similarties to the stories.  Only that they're both set in college, are a little more adult in theme (I definitely wouldn't recommend this for younger teens), and have a bad boy in them that you have to love.  Just my kind of book.  I love to find this type of story.  (If you know any others, leave a comment, cause I want to know!!)

I'm sure Jacqueline's dilemma isn't unique... I'm sure a lot of girls go off to college thinking they're always going to be with their longtime boyfriends, only to have an unexpected breakup occur.  What is unique is what happens after that.  She deals with it well, and it was really great watching her learn to stand alone, move on and find friends and start to pursue a life that didn't include him.

From the moment that Lucas arrived on the scene, I was captivated.  This is just my kind of guy.  A really good guy in a bad guy persona.  He could whip the sh*t out of someone if he needed to, but how he cared about Jacqueline was so sweet.  These two share some of the best sexual tension I've read in a book in a while.  It was just...well, captivating.  It left you breathless.

This story had a couple twists and turns that I really never expected and I was shocked and excited by where things went.  This was a really great story with excellent, engaging writing.  It was fast-paced, the story was interesting, the characters endearing, and the romance perfect.

I am going trolling for some more Tammara Webber books right now!!
