Elise is a normal seventeen-year-old girl until the day she wakes up in a desert park, with no idea who she is.  After that episode, her life takes a bizarre turn. She’s experiencing unexpected flashes of insight into people’s lives—people she’s never met before. Strangers frighten her with warnings about the approaching Shadows. And although Elise has never had a boyfriend, she suddenly finds herself torn between two handsome but very different young men: Abe, the charming bad boy whose effect on her both seduces and frightens her, and the mysterious Harlin, who’s new to town but with whom Elise feels an urgent, elemental connection—almost as if they are soul mates.  Now Elise begins to question everything about her life. Why do these guys both want her so desperately? What are the Shadows? Why does the name Charlotte inspire a terrifying familiarity? And who is Elise, really?  - Goodreads.com

A Need So Beautiful, the first book in this series, hit me between the eyes when I read it.  So I had extremely high expectations with this story.  I am so, so happy to find that it met my expectations, and even exceeded them.  This is just an amazing story... it's a great variation to the whole "angels" concept that is just so unique and interesting.

Some new characters are introduced in this story, one of which is Abe.  I had very strong feelings about Abe from the very beginning, and they were of the "don't you dare come into this mix and screw things up for Elise and Harlin finding each other!"  I needn't have worried.  I can't really say what happens here without giving a lot away from the story, but suffice it to say, that Harlin is around plenty.  Of course, Elise doesn't remember who she was, and she's wearing a new face.  So we get to watch things develop between them yet again, and it is a beautiful thing.

This story was just amazing.  The love story is amazing... and Suzanne's writing was... you guessed it, amazing.  This story had perfect pacing...  I finished it in no time flat.  And it had a lot to do with the beauty and depth of Young's writing.  This series just makes you feel emotions and care about the characters so much that you're incredibly invested in what happens with them.  I'm already dying to see book three.
