Can true love be forgotten?  As the only scion who can descend into the Underworld, Helen Hamilton has been given a nearly impossible task. By night she wanders through Hades, trying to stop the endless cycle of revenge that has cursed her family. By day she struggles to overcome the fatigue that is rapidly eroding her sanity. Without Lucas by her side, Helen is not sure she has the strength to go on.  Just as Helen is pushed to her breaking point, a mysterious new Scion comes to her rescue. Funny and brave, Orion shields her from the dangers of the Underworld. But time is running out--a ruthless foe plots against them, and the Furies' cry for blood is growing louder.  As the ancient Greek world collides with the mortal one, Helen's sheltered life on Nantucket descends into chaos. But the hardest task of all will be forgetting Lucas Delos.  -

Josephine Angelini knows how to write an awesome book.  That's all I can say.  This series is amazing, and if this sequel says anything, it is that she only gets better with each book.

Everything I loved about Helen in book one is still there.  She's growing so strong, both physically and emotionally.  She sacrifices so much in this story, as she enters the Underworld every night trying to find a cure for the Furies' revenge cycle and allow the families to drop their centuries-old hatred of one another so that they can live in peace.  She's so brave and courageous in this story.

The bomb her mom dropped on her in the last book, that Lucas is her cousin causes extreme conflict that is so agonizing to watch.  It's so sad that they love each other so much but can't be together because they think they're cousins.  But don't worry, Helen finds a friend in the Underworld.  I loved Orion so much!  I'm so torn now.  As much as I love Lucas, Orion is amazing too.  He's brave, sacrificial and so caring.  And then... Lucas is badass!

If I had these two to choose  I don't know what I would do.  But they both love Helen, and both are willing to sacrifice for her.  And it is their sacrifice that completely changes the story and amps up the conflict even more.  Now what?  Wow.  I don't know how Josephine Angelini will resolve all of this in the last story, but she's definitely written her characters into a corner and it's going to be so amazing to watch how they get out of it.

Her writing is wonderful... engaging and fast-paced, and so emotional.  I love these books!

If you liked this book, be watchign for the third book, Goddess, in May 2013!
