Monday's Month In Retrospect

It's time for Monday's Month In Retrospect where I look back at the previous month and see what I considered the Best Ofs for what I read in July 2012. Summer 2012 continues to be an awesome book season this year.

It was such a difficult choice for all categories this month because I read so many amazing books in June!

Best Book I read last month (There's a tie):

TitleAwry by Chelsea Fine
Release Date: June 12, 2012
Why it was my favorite: This series is amazing.  It was my favorite because of the concept and the romance.
Reviewed: Yes. See review here.
Note:  I have to give a nod here to Jennifer Echols' Such a Rush.  I actually read an ARC a couple months ago, but I just reviewed it this month due to the release date.  It was amazing!!

Best Heroine:
Whitley from Kody Keplinger's A Midsummer's Nightmare
Why she's my favorite: A girl with real flaws, and bad ones.  She struggles with her identity, parties and makes huge mistakes.  But the progression of her growth was amazing to watch.

Best Hero:
Gabriel in Brigid Kemmerer's Spark
Why he's my favorite:   So tortured, alone, and angry.  But sexy and sweet too.
Best Villain:
The people in Jeyn Roberts' Dark Inside
Why he's my favorite:  These people raised the hair on my arms.  Eeks.  Creepy and eerie.
Best Cover:

Why it's my favorite:   Two months in a row, one of Chelsea Fine's books has been my favorite cover.  And both covers from the same series too!  I love this one because I love the colors, but also because of the stance of the characters.  She's looking slightly off into the distance, while the boy is looking at her.  Just like in the book itself and the way the characters interact.  This cover just says so much about what's going on between the pages.  Love it!

Leave a comment and share your Best Ofs for July!
