Monday's Month In Retrospect

It's time for Monday's Month In Retrospect where I look back at the previous month and see what I considered the Best Ofs for what I read in August 2012.

Here we go!

Best Book I read last month (There's a tie):

Title: Spark by Amy Kathleen Ryan
Release Date: July 17, 2012
Why it was my favorite: This second installment took off!  There were some major shock factors in the story that had me gasping aloud.  And the mother of all cliffhangers! Wow.
Reviewed: Yes. See review here.
Note: I also have to give a shout out to Dreamless by Josephine Angelini.  It was an amazing sequel also!

Best Heroine:
Helen from Josephine Angelini's Dreamless.
Why she's my favorite: Such a strong heroine.  She sacrifices so much and is so brave in this story.  You just have to love her and pull for her.

Best Hero:
Seth in Amy Kathleen Ryan's Spark.
Why he's my favorite:    He has both good and bad in him.  And in this sequel, he has to choose which one to follow.  Watching him make the choice was awesome.
Best Villain:
Anne in Amy Kathleen Ryan's Spark.
What made her a great villain:  She has such reasonable explanations for all of her horrid actions... but in the end, her actions are just that... horrid.  You just love to hate her.
Best Cover:

Why it's my favorite:   Ethereal and otherworldly looking.  Just gorgeous.
