Knowing the outcome doesn’t always make a choice easier . . . Addison Coleman’s life is one big “What if?” As a Searcher, whenever Addie is faced with a choice, she can look into the future and see both outcomes. It’s the ultimate insurance plan against disaster. Or so she thought. When Addie’s parents ambush her with the news of their divorce, she has to pick who she wants to live with—her father, who is leaving the paranormal compound to live among the “Norms,” or her mother, who is staying in the life Addie has always known. Addie loves her life just as it is, so her answer should be easy. One Search six weeks into the future proves it’s not.  In one potential future, Addie is adjusting to life outside the Compound as the new girl in a Norm high school where she meets Trevor, a cute, sensitive artist who understands her. In the other path, Addie is being pursued by the hottest guy in school—but she never wanted to be a quarterback’s girlfriend. When Addie’s father is asked to consult on a murder in the Compound, she’s unwittingly drawn into a dangerous game that threatens everything she holds dear. With love and loss in both lives, it all comes down to which reality she’s willing to live through . . . and who she can’t live without.  - Goodreads.com

This was one of the most amazing books I've read in a while.  It had me from the very first page and never let me go.  I read the entire book in one sitting and literally didn't want to do anything else while I was reading.  If I had other things to do like, you know, eat, I put it off.  Sleep didn't interfere.  Nothing kept me from this book... it was that exciting.

The story reminded me somewhat of that Ashton Kutcher movie, The Butterfly Effect, but not because it was a copy.  It was more that there were similarities in the way "cause and effect" were represented in the story.  The story itself was completely unique, and it was the first time I've read something like it, ever.  It was completely new and so inventive.

The characters in this story were amazing.  I loved, loved, loved Addie.  This is a person who can look at any decision and be able to see the entire path of each.  What a burden to carry...and that burden was present in this story, because both paths she can follow come with great things, and both paths also come with extreme danger and loss.  What would I do?  It's a tough question because most people would not be able to get past the personal selfishness of wanting to take what you want, despite the consequences.  But this is a selfless girl whose thoughts are for others... and this is something that makes you love her.  There are two guys in the story... and I can't really say much more than that without giving something away.  Suffice it to say there is definitely one that I'm pulling for over the other, and I absolutely fell in love with him.  I'd love to say more but I don't want to ruin anything for anyone who hasn't read the book, because this is definitely one of those stories where it is very easy to say too much.  I'll just say...amazing sexual tension.  Loved it!

Aside from the wonderful story and amazing characters, the book was expertly told.  I loved how the author chose to present the story in alternating chapters, where every other chapter takes place in one of the two realities.  It very easily could have been confusing, hopping back and forth between living out both sides of Addie's choice, but I wasn't confused at all.  It made me feel like I was discovering the two paths right along with Addie, and it invested me more into the story.

Kasie West has created an amazing and suspensful world here.  The writing was perfect, the pacing kept me hooked in and breathless.  I can't wait for book number two!!
