Woah!  Talk about going out with a bang.  This book was one big awesome-fest from the very first page.  Absolutely amazing, compelling, and action-packed.  I loved this book, this series, and the author!  This is one of the best series ever, and has gone on my list as one of my favorites of all time.  Epic!

Everything you thought you knew up to now may not be correct, and there are some twists and turns in this story that took me completely by surprise.  Even people you thought you understood undergo some major changes in this book that were shocking, to say the least.

Helen's character stays true to the other books, but with a bonus.  She has come completely into her power, and it is awesome to behold.  Otherwise, she's the same loveable Helen, even if some of her friends might feel as if the power has changed her.  She is brave and self-sacrificing, and you can't help but continue to love her like crazy.

Then there are the guys.  I love Lucas!  I love Orion!  I truly wished she could just have both men and be done with it, but alas, one had to win.  Both of these guys are incredible, both would do anything, and do, for her, and both are honorable and brave.  What's not to love here?  But one does come out on top, and it was fitting.  What had to happen to make it possible was so suspenseful and nail-biting that I found myself hopping up and down in my seat until it was over.  The excitement level was just getting to me like crazy.

Loyalties are tested, people change sides, betrayals occur, sacrifices are made.... the story was just epic.  I think the last half of the book was one big fight scene that kept you on the edge of your seat.  The author did an absolutely amazing job weaving all the strings together into a brilliant tapestry of a story that flowed and fit so beautifully.  Her writing is fast-paced, emotional, and excitement.

This series is now over, but as I said, I will keep it on my re-read pile.  I am already looking forward to Josephine Angelini's new project, whatever it may be.
