Discussion Post: Eager for the book

Okay, so do you ever look forward to a book so much that you count the days until it comes out, can't wait to get it, but then when you finally do get it, it sits on your shelves while you read other books instead?

This happens to me periodically, and I'm not sure why.  I have several books that really had me dying to get my hands on it, but when I finally did, I set it aside, promising to read it right away, and then it's still sitting there months later.  It's kind of like what happened to me with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows.  I knew that book was going to be amazing... I couldn't wait to get my hands on it.  When I finally got it, I DID read it right away, but I purposely read as slow as possible and factored breaks in intentionally.  Why?  Because I wanted to make it last as long as possible.

Ever since then, I wonder if I'm subconsciously putting off reading these books because I "don't want them to be over."

Anyone else do this too?  What do you think the reason is why we do this?  Leave a comment and let me know your thoughts.
