My Discussion Topic This Week - Do you go through reading moods?
First of all, my apologies for getting this post up so late in the day. I usually preschedule, but for some reason, I missed this post and it was still listed as a draft.
Okay, so right now, I'm on a serious New Adult kick. I've been reading almost exclusively New Adult books for the past two weeks. Just devouring them, craving them, shopping for them, etc. I have read one or two others, because I'm participating in blog tours for them. Once I've read them though, I'm right back to the New Adult books.
A couple weeks ago, I was reading nothing but boarding school type books. At this point, I'm so over boarding schools and am on to New Adult. So here's what I'm getting at here:
1. I'll go through a mood for a certain type of book and I will read all of them I can get my hands on.
2. Once I've read a certain, indeterminate amount, I'm sick of them and I move on to another type.
This doesn't happen to me always. Most of the time I can read a pretty eclectic list of books and switch back and forth between types. But here's what happens... I read one super awesome book of that particular type, and then I'm stuck in that type. I pull out as many others as I can get until, like I said, I finally get burned out on that subgenre and move on. This type, it was Toxic Bad Boy by April Brookshire that got me stuck on New Adult.
Does this happen to you to? What are your reading habits?
