Genre: YA Paranormal/Fantasy

Roya desperately wishes she was above ground, on a sunny patio, watching the lake lap up on the shore. Instead, she finds herself trapped with the Lucidites. Her brother is mysteriously wasting away, and at every turn she finds a new betrayal. Just when she thinks she’s finally escaping the Institute, a new danger unveils itself. A secret society of Dream Travelers has declared war on the Lucidites by abducting a head official. It’s up to Roya to figure out who’s behind it and how to save everyone she cares about most. More action packed than its predecessor, Stunned is captivating and will leave audiences squirming from the tension and also begging for more.

OMG, OMG, OMG!!!  I just finished this book after midnight here, and I wanted to write my review right away while it was all still fresh on my mind.  Anyone who might have been concerned that this series would fall into second book slump can completely set their minds to rest.  This book upped the game on so many levels, that I actually believe it was better than the first in some ways.

Once again, Roya is called upon to put her life in jeopardy in order to go on a crazy-scary-dangerous mission.  This time, though, the mission hits a lot closer to home for her and has become a lot more personal, as it involves someone she cares a great deal about.  Again, I found myself completely loving the training sessions that the small group of friends must go through to prepare for their mission. It was like Harry Potter without the wands.  I love seeing the elements they learn about, the skills they must master, and the way that Roya must step up this time as a true leader of her group.

Yes, folks, there is a love triangle in this story, and guess what?  I love it!  I care about both of these guys, and I'm just as torn as Roya is.  It's hard to pick between two guys as great as these two.  I can't even say I'm pulling for any particular one at this point because I love them both so much!  These scenes between Roya and each of them are intense and sweet.

Then there's the mission.  Part of what makes the action in this book so interesting is the complete oneness of purpose of all members of the team.  I love watching them work together, building a special bond as they move toward a common goal.  And this mission throws some surprises out there that I wasn't expecting at all, some new complications that I know are going to cause some major havoc in the next book.

Roya continues to be my favorite character.  I've never seen a character struggle so much to keep her emotions in check, to keep herself from being vulnerable.  Yet, in this story, I feel like there was some growth there.  It makes her so lovable, and makes the reader care about her all the more.  She's selfless, strong, and crazy good at what she does.  The author did an amazing job conveying such a complex character.

I flew through this book today as it was so fast-paced, so exciting, and had me on the edge of my seat more often than not.  And what a cliffhanger!!  OMG!  I was so not expecting the revelation at the end of this book!  What a kicker.  I want the next book like NOW!! Great book!
