My Discussion Topic This Week - Have you discovered the fun and benefit of Pinterest?
So I was a little slow getting on some of the social media beyond Facebook and Twitter. A few months ago though, I went social media crazy and decided to try several others that I'd never done before. Some of the ones I joined were:
- Book Blogging
- Google +
I have to admit I haven't been as active on Instagram and Book Blogging as I'd like, but Google + has brought me a lot of new contacts and fun friends to talk to. StumbleUpon has driven some more traffic to my blog... but beware of sharing too many of your own pages... stumble and share some other pages as well. BUT...the one I really fell in love with is Pinterest.
Pinterest allows you to create different "boards' of information that interest you, such as the ones I have. I have a board that's All About Books, Covers I Love, Books I Want, Blogs Tours I've Done, The Joys of Writing, etc... Pinterest is then so accessible. If you use Google Chrome, there's a Pinterest plugin that you have to get. That plugin causes a Pin It button to appear on any picture on a website you're visiting. If you click Pin It, you can then choose one of your boards and pin there.
Why do I do this? Well, I'm able to keep track of sites, articles, blog posts, pictures and other things I've found on the internet without having to create a bookmark in my browser every single time. And because you can put it on boards, it's organized, stays there forever, and you never lose it. Plus they're all categorized and easy to find.
Other "pinners" end up finding you and being led to your blog if they're interested in what you've pinned that came from your own site. And you can meet new people who share your other interests too. I also get an email, usually daily, that tells me about new potential pins to check out that match my boards. So you can find new articles and different things to read and look at. I LOVE Pinterest. If you've never tried it, check it out!
So do you pin? What types of boards do you have?
