Monday's Month In Retrospect: July 2015

Monday's Month in Retrospect is a monthly meme hosted by The Tale Temptress to look back at your favorites, your "MVPs", or "Best Ofs" from what you read the previous month.  To participate:

  • Pick your "Best Ofs" from the specified categories below
  • Post them in a MMiR (Monday's Month in Retrospect) post on your blog (include why each was your favorite)
  • Add your link to the list at the end of this post.

Additional rules:  You can use pictures to illustrate your Best Of picks, your idea of what a character looks like, etc...  Also, you can use my simple banner above, or your own, just as long as you link back.  You can even combine this with a regular "month/week in review" post that you already do. Just make sure to link back so we can all see what everyone thought was the Best.  The Best Of categories are:

  • Best Book
  • Best Hero
  • Best Heroine
  • Best Villain
  • Best Quote, if you have one
  • Best Cover

So here is my Monday's Month In Retrospect for what I read in July 2015.  This was so difficult to choose from because I read some amazing books. Here they are:

Title:  All I've Never Wanted by Ana Huang
Why It Was My Favorite:  I don't usually pick contemporary romances as my Best Book of the month for some reason, so this might be a first.  This one just really stuck with me.  It was so funny, so romantic, and so cute, that I 5 starred it and and just loved it.
Reviewed?   Yes.  See review here.

BEST HERO - It's a tie!!
Character: Finn from Shadow of Deception by Sophia L. Johnson, and Till from Fighting Silence by Aly Martinez
Why He Was My Favorite:
Finn was just a badass.  Loved the passages in this book where we got to see him fight.  Plus he was just so well characterized and had great depth.
Till made my favorite list because this is a guy who is going deaf, and the thing he'll miss the most is the sound of his girl's voice.  Wow.  Loved him.
Reviewed?  Yes.  Post for Shadow of Deception, and post for Fighting Silence.

Character: Allison in Into a Million Pieces by Angela V. Cook.
Why She Was My Favorite: I loved her internal struggle against what she is, and how hard she tried to work to help her sister in that same struggle. She was such a strong character and so well written.  I fell in love with her.
Reviewed? Yes.  Post here.

Character/Entity: The villain from Into a Shadow of Deception by Sophia L. Johnson
Why This Villain Was My Favorite:  I can't really say who the villain was because I don't want to ruin the story and who the villain(s) were came as somewhat of a surprise that you should discover for yourself.  But wow.  That was unexpected.

Quote from: Finn from Fighting Silence by Aly Martinez.
Quote 1: “I'm okay.  You're okay.  We're okay.  Nothing else matters."
Why It's My Favorite: This character was beautiful.  Beautifully written, and just all around wonderful. This personifies who he is as a character.

Book Cover:  The Tunnel by Josh Anderson
Why It's My Favorite:  This cover says so much about the book.  Read the summary and then check out this cover again.  Gorgeous.
Reviewed?  Yes. Post here.
