Monday's Month in Retrospect: August 2015

Monday's Month in Retrospect is a monthly meme hosted by The Tale Temptress to look back at your favorites, your "MVPs", or "Best Ofs" from what you read the previous month.  To participate:

  • Pick your "Best Ofs" from the specified categories below
  • Post them in a MMiR (Monday's Month in Retrospect) post on your blog (include why each was your favorite)
  • Add your link to the list at the end of this post.

Additional rules:  You can use pictures to illustrate your Best Of picks, your idea of what a character looks like, etc...  Also, you can use my simple banner above, or your own, just as long as you link back.  You can even combine this with a regular "month/week in review" post that you already do. Just make sure to link back so we can all see what everyone thought was the Best.  The Best Of categories are:

  • Best Book
  • Best Hero
  • Best Heroine
  • Best Villain
  • Best Quote, if you have one
  • Best Cover

So here is my Monday's Month In Retrospect for what I read in August 2015.  As always this was so difficult to choose. Here they are....and it was almost a sweep:

Title:  Mirrored by Alex Flinn
Why It Was My Favorite:  This was an amazing modern retelling of Snow White.  It was absolutely phenomenal!
Reviewed?   Yes.  See review here.

Character: Goose from Mirrored by Alex Flinn
Why He Was My Favorite:
He was so not what I was expecting at all.  He was just a different type of hero that I just loved him.  I can't say more without ruining everything.  Just read it.
Reviewed?  Yes.  See review here.

Character: Morgan from The Body Institute by Carol Riggs
Why She Was My Favorite: She strong, determined, smart, and brave.  She had a huge moral compass and was willing to sacrifice everything for others.
Reviewed? Yes.  Post here.

Character/Entity: Violet from Mirrored by Alex Flinn
Why This Villain Was My Favorite:  The best kind of villain... the kind you actually feel sorry for, even as you hate them.  Wow, she was a villain to put them all to shame.

Book Cover:  Mirrored by Alex Flinn
Why It's My Favorite:  What's not to love about this cover?  It says so much about the story within.  It's just gorgeous!!!
Reviewed?  Yes. Post here.
