Blog Tour and Giveaway: The Game Can't Love You Back by

I'm very excited to be part of the blog tour for Karole Cozzo's book The Game Can't Love You Back, scheduled for release on May 15, 2018!  In addition to the details about this awesome book, don't forget to check out the exciting giveaway below!!

Eve is used to being the odd woman out. As the only girl on her school's baseball team, she knows exactly how to put sweaty, macho baseball players in their place, and she's focused on one thing and one thing only—being the best pitcher she can be.

But when a freak accident forces her high school to be absorbed by the neighboring town, Eve has to contend with a new group of guys who aren't used to having a woman on their team. And the new team's star pitcher, Jamie, has no interest in being ousted from his throne. He can't afford to give up his starting slot to a new pitcher—even worse, to a girl.

As the competition between Jamie and Eve starts to heat up, so does their attraction to each other. Can they keep their heads in the game, or will they end up getting played?

I thought I knew what I was getting into when I decided to participate in the blog tour for this book and to give an honest review for it.  My expectations included a cute story where the two main characters each want the same thing (two dogs, one bone = conflict), but unexpected romance ensues and a happily ever after occurs.  Don't get me wrong, I love these types of stories or I wouldn't read them otherwise! But it's just wonderful when you read one that turns out to be ever so much more than what you were expecting, and The Game Can't Love You Back was exactly that.

This story had lessons to be learned, and some serious issues to be faced. It wasn't depressing in any way, but these extra elements just gave the story some true depth that made for a much more engrossing and satisfying read.  Then there was the sexual tension.  Off the charts for me!

So this story was about a school that burned down, forcing it to merge with another nearby school.  Seems simple, except that no one ever really thinks about what kind of impact that might have on the kids who are having to go to a different school...one where spots on teams are already established. They had to integrate the one team into the other, which put players from the old school going head first against players from the new school in an attempt to nab coveted spots.  This is the circumstance we find our two main characters in, so of course, they resent each off the bat.

Where and how the author took the story from there was amazing and gratifying.  Obviously you know going in that these two are probably going to end up liking each other romantically, but it was extremely well done.  The sexual tension between these two was amazingly crafted, and you fell in love with both of them as you got to really know them, their families, their pasts, and what they want from the future. I loved them!

The pacing was perfect and engaging, as I read this practically in one sitting. I was very resentful of any intrusions on my reading time.  The author swept me away with her characters, made me care and love them, gave them real personalities, and satisfied me 100% at the end.  I loved this book, and this author is now on my radar!!
